Bower Hill Farm
Welcome to the SUMMER CAMP webpage! The Summer Camp has been running at Bower Hill Farm since 2007 during the last two weeks of August, from Monday to Friday, 10:30 am to 2:30pm, for children aged 5+. There is an optional 'walking bus' run by leaders meeting at Nutfield Recreation Ground at 10am and returning at 3pm, walking to the farm on the picturesque footpath of the Greensand Way.
The camp is run by three experienced leaders and occasional helpers. Lucrecia Amos is a qualified teacher and childminder. Danny and Rebecca Harper are both Judo instructors and run Nutfield Judo Club for children and adults. Danny also works in a special needs school. Leaders are CRB checked and First Aid trained.
The camp is set at the top of Bower Hill, with free access to woodland and to one acre of sloping playfield. The beautiful spot and magnificent views across the Surrey countryside make up for the modest but functional camp facilities. There is a sheltered area for arts and crafts, a campfire area, portable chemical toilet and hand washing facilities. The children have access to the farm animals, sheep and cattle, and farm pets, bunnies and guinea pigs. They also visit the two lakes and wildflower meadows, twenty acres on the farm devoted to wildlife conservation and home to many mammals, birds and insects, rare bats and crested newts, resident swans, and visiting deer. In th
e lakes, the younger children are taken on boat rides with safety jackets, and the older ones practice canoeing and boat rowing. At the camp there is a free choice of activities, nature trails, physical challenges, arts and crafts, volleyball, team games, hunts, hiding games and log shelter building in the woods. On hot days there are water games, sprinklers and a water slide. The children bring their own packed lunch, swimwear, towel, sun cream and hat. Alternatively, raincoat and wellies - the camp runs whatever the weather! A snack is provided, marshmallows on the fire or biscuits, water or juice. Water is also available throughout the day.

The boys had a lovely time-It was their kind of thing being outside for the day- wonderful! Juliette Harmer- August 2008 We thought the summer camp was fantastic. Thank you so much for providing such a great experience for all the children. They had a wonderful time, doing the things children should do but don't always get the chance - playing in the woods, riding a pony, kayaking, cooking on a campfire.... and all in a very relaxed and happy atmosphere. Izzy had a fab time at the farm this summer, she came back both times saying she had a fantastic time (I wish I had put her in some more) Thanks a million In a safe and secure environment, the kids get to do the things that us as parents enjoyed doing as kids, things that they probably don't normally do, and things that may involve getting wet and dirty!! There is nothing else around that offers anything near what you have at the farm.
Rebecca Harper-August 2009
My child has got special needs (authism and ADHD) I find it hard to find a place that she feels she can fit in and enjoy all the activities. She absolutley loves it at your farm and I think she has a real soft spot for all the helpers too. Its nice for me to be able to have a break and know she is well cared for.My younger child had a brill time as well this summer and talked about the water slide and the camp for weeks after.

Lindsay Leighton- August 2009 Grace has had a fantastic time getting close to nature! Thank you so much. After her first boating trip she came home saying it was 'the best day of her life!' Thanks again Eleanor Wexler-August 2011 Thank you once again for looking after Joshua and Johnny for the whole week they
were with you. Your team are absolutely brilliant with the children, and
Joshua and Johnny had a fantastic time. Joshua’s confidence has grown and
